"The BAI have granted Dundalk FM a 10 year license. The details are listed below courtesy of the BAI. Let me thank all who were involved in making this hard won license a reality. A special word of thanks is due to our Manager Alan Byrne and our Treasurer Hugh McKitterick who worked tirelessly in the days coming up to the deadline for our final submissions. Thank also to the members of the Board who made themselves available at short notice to meet with the BAI. And last but not least thank you- our members who have given support to myself and the Board to make the at times difficult decisions that were necessary for this hard won development to become welcome reality!" The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”), today (30th June), signed Community Sound Broadcasting Contracts with Dundalk FM and Ros FM respectively. Both services have been on air since 2004 and today’s signings conclude the licensing processes undertaken in 2009 to relicense services in these areas. Both services now have contracts to broadcast until 2019. Dundalk FM Dundalk FM, operated by Dundalk Media Centre Limited, will broadcast a mix of talk-based programmes, special interest speech, special interest music, religious, sports with many programmes produced and presented by community groups from the broadcast area. The focus will be a variety of quality programmes made by, and for, the people living in the broadcast area. The service will broadcast to Dundalk Townand Environs. The service has been on air since 2004. Alan Byrne (Station Manager) and Stephen Murphy (Chairperson) signed on behalf of the station. RosFM RosFm, operated by RosFM Community Radio Limited, will provide a community radio services for Roscommon Town and Environs. The station’s programme schedule will incorporate programming made by, and relevant to, those with disabilities, the older aged, women, lone parents, youth, unemployed, and voluntary groups. The service will raise awareness around community development, disability issues and wider issues of local concern, in an integrated style. The service has been on air since 2004. Ros FM was represented at the signing by: Bernard Kearney (Chairperson), Tom Flanagan (Secretary) and Matt Rogers (Station Manager). Speaking at the contract signing, Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive of the BAI said: “Both Community stations receiving contracts today have been on air for 6 years under the terms of their existing contracts. The signings today will ensure that the listening audience in both areas continue to have access to community broadcasting. We wish them every success over the terms of their contracts”. Thanks very much to todays guests on Town Talk................Garda Caroline Hayes - Community Garda Slot.........................Chef Karl Moore - Karls Kitchen Flavours, (A big CONGRATULATIONS to Karl and his wife on the Birth of their new baby boy Daniel !! from everyone here at Dundalk FM 100) Karl came in today to cook some Italian dishes for us LIVE on the show !! Karl cooked up some delicious deep fried stuffed Olives in breadcrumbs, everyone enjoyed these and then it was quickly on to Karls next dish, Poattoe Nockie with Sage Butter ! these little potatoe dumplings went down a treat and web can't wait to get Karl back in for more Karls Kitchen Flavours in two weeks time....................Thanks also to local singer/songwriter Christy Cooney for coming in for a chat and a couple of LIVE songs to finish of the show. Christy is working on his next Album and will be back to talk to us in more detail soon.

Dundalk FM 100 went to the Save Our Hospital Protest at Dundalk Market Square on Friday 25th July and recorded the event, sections of this event have been played on Dundalk FM 100 and due to request from the public, we have now added the full recording for Podcast. Thanks very much to todays guests on Town Talk.......Fiona Squibb - LSPCA, who came in to tell us about the up and coming Badge days on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd July to raise much needed funds to keep the LSPCA in operation in Louth....................Thanks also to Michael and Patricia Hayes, who came in to tell us about the Leinster Fleadh which is taking place between 1st-11th July
